Installation Procedure

NOTE:
Refer to FASTENER NOTICE
in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the compressor drain plug (1).
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install the A/C compressor upper mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the A/C compressor lower mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).
- Install the new sealing washers. Refer to SEALING WASHER REPLACEMENT .
- Install the A/C compressor hose assembly to the A/C compressor.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.
- Install the lower air deflector. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - LOWER in Engine Cooling.
- Install the right side engine splash shield. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE in Body Front End.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Release the drive belt tension by lifting or rotating the drive belt tensioner with a breaker bar.
- Install the drive belt around the A/C compressor pulley.IMPORTANT: Make sure the drive belt is aligned into the proper grooves of all pulleys.
- Slowly release the tension from the drive belt tensioner and remove the breaker bar.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
