Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Buick Regal and 2003 Buick Century. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If replacing the accumulator, add refrigerant oil to the accumulator. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CAPACITIES  for system capacity information.
  2. Install the accumulator to the mounting bracket.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Tighten the accumulator bracket bolt clamp.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 4 N.m (36 lb in).

  4. Install the accumulator.
  5. Install the accumulator bracket retaining bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 4 N.m (36 lb in).

  6. Install the new O-ring seals onto the A/C compressor hose and the accumulator hose. Refer to O-RING REPLACEMENT  .
  7. Connect the accumulator hose onto the accumulator.
  8. Tighten the accumulator hose nut (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).

  9. Connect the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
  10. Install the A/C compressor hose nut (1) onto the accumulator.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  11. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  12. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING  .
  13. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
