Removal Procedure

CAUTION: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open and support the liftgate window.
    NOTE: Refer to CAUTIONS & NOTICES Liftgate/Hood Assist Rod Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Lift up the retainer clips on the liftgate window struts using a small flat-bladed tool.
  3. Remove the upper end of the liftgate window struts from the ball joint.
  4. Remove the lower end of the liftgate window struts from the ball joint.
  5. Remove the liftgate window struts from the liftgate window.
