Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the liftgate to the vehicle with an assistant.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

  2. Install the liftgate hinge nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the liftgate hinge nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - Lift Gate .
  4. Install the wire harness to the lift gate. Refer to WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT - Lift Gate .
  5. Install the liftgate control module. Refer to Lift Gate Control Module Replacement .
  6. Install the window wiper assembly. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  7. Install the window latch assembly. Refer to LATCH REPLACEMENT - Lift Gate Window .
  8. Install the key cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - Lift Gate .
  9. Install the license plate pocket. Refer to License Plate Pocket Replacement .

  10. Connect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).
  11. Connect the rear window washer fluid supply line.

  12. Connect the CHMSL electrical connector behind the header panel.
  13. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - Lift Gate (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) .
  14. Install the liftgate window garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT--REAR WINDOW in Interior Trim.
  15. Install the upper rear quarter trim, located above the tail lamp. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR PANEL in Exterior Trim.
  16. Install the liftgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Lift Gate in Stationary Windows.
