Removal Procedure

CAUTION: Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT CAUTION .
CAUTION: Refer to SIR CAUTION .
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the I/P trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement-Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper   . 
  3. Remove the center console, if equipped. Refer to Console Replacement (Except Pro)   or  Console Replacement (Pro)   . 
  4. Remove the driver side knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement   . 
  5. Remove the lower I/P trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement-Lower   . 
  6. Remove the passenger side air bag module. Refer to REMOVAL & INSTALLATION (PASSENGER-SIDE) .
  7. Remove the radio. Refer to RADIO REPLACEMENT (NON-DIGITAL RADIO) or RADIO REPLACEMENT (DIGITAL RADIO) .
  8. Remove the HVAC control. Refer to HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT for Automatic or HVAC CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT for Manual.
  9. Remove the accessory switch housing. Refer to Accessory Switch Replacement   . 
  10. Remove the left air louver housing. Refer to DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - INSTRUMENT PANEL AIR - LEFT .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to STEERING COLUMN REPLACEMENT .
  12. Remove the communication interface module, if equipped. Refer to COMMUNICATION INTERFACE MODULE REPLACEMENT .
  13. Remove the remote control door lock receiver module, if equipped. Refer to REMOTE CONTROL DOOR LOCK RECEIVER REPLACEMENT .
  14. Remove the data link connector from the I/P. Refer to DATA LINK CONNECTOR REPLACEMENT .
  15. Remove the park brake release lever from the I/P. Refer to PARK BRAKE RELEASE HANDLE ASSEMBLY .
  16. Remove the I/P cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement   . 
  17. Remove both front window air ducts from the I/P assembly.
  18. Remove the harness from the I/P. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL ELECTRICAL CENTER OR JUNCTION BLOCK REPLACEMENT - LEFT or INSTRUMENT PANEL ELECTRICAL CENTER OR JUNCTION BLOCK REPLACEMENT - RIGHT .
  19. Remove the I/P assembly retaining bolts (3) and nuts (4).
  20. Remove all harness hold down retainers from the I/P assembly.
  21. Remove the I/P assembly from the vehicle.
