Installation Procedure

  1. Install a NEW shift lever insulator, if required.
  2. Apply gasket maker GM P/N 12378517 or equivalent to the surface of the control lever assembly.
  3. Push the shift lever assembly back through the insulator, position and turn the shift lever assembly back into place.
  4. With a flat tool pull back the insulator between the body and transmission to install the shift lever assembly bolts.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  5. Install the shift lever assembly bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

  6. Install the control lever and boot. Refer to Control Lever And/Or Boot Replacement   .
