Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra and 2003 Chevrolet Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Failure to properly align the crankshaft position sensor reluctor ring may result in component damage and effect OBD II system performance.
IMPORTANT: The reluctor ring is shaped like a dish. The dish must face the engine front cover. Failure to do so will damage the front cover and the reluctor ring.
  1. Install the CKP sensor reluctor ring.
    1. 1.1. Align the keyway on the CKP sensor reluctor ring with the key in the crankshaft.
    2. 1.2. Using J 5590  , push the CKP sensor reluctor ring onto the crankshaft until completely seated against the crankshaft sprocket.
  2. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
