Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
IMPORTANT: If the drain or fill plug have to be replaced, use only aluminum replacement drain plugs. Steel plugs will react with the magnesium of the transfer case.
  1. Install the drain plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  2. Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the fill plug hole with the approved transfer case fluid.

  3. Install the fill plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the Plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  4. Install the transfer case shield, if equipped. Refer to Transfer Case Fluid Replacement .
