WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Sierra, 2003 GMC Cab & Chassis Sierra, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and 2003 Chevrolet Cab & Chassis Silverado. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
IMPORTANT:
The refrigerant oil in the A/C system must be balanced during compressor replacement.
- The replacement compressor is shipped with the total system capacity of refrigerant oil.
- Before installing the compressor, the refrigerant oil will have to be partially drained:
- 2.1. Refer to the amount of refrigerant oil recorded during the compressor removal.
- 2.2. Subtract the amount recorded from the total system capacity. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
The difference between the total system capacity and the recorded amount is the calculated amount to be drained from the replacement compressor.
- Drain the calculated amount of refrigerant oil from the replacement compressor.
