"S" & "T" Series
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 16 other vehicles, including the 2001 Pontiac Montana, 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette, 2001 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2001 GMC Sonoma, and 2001 GMC Savana Special. - Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. If scan tool powers up, go to next step. If scan tool does not power up, perform SCAN TOOL DOES NOT POWER UP under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Attempt to establish communication with BCM. If scan tool communicates with BCM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with BCM, perform SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
- Select BCM DISPLAY DTCs function on scan tool. If scan tool displays any DTCs, go to next step. If scan tool does not display any DTCs, repair by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool displays any DTCs which begin with "U", perform SCAN TOOL DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH CLASS 2 DEVICE under SYSTEM TESTS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If scan tool does not display any DTCs which begin with "U", go to next step.
- If scan tool displays DTC B1397, B1398 or B1480, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If scan tool does not display DTC B1397, B1398 or B1480, perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
