Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to WINDOW REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE in Stationary Windows.
  2. Remove the rear quarter trim located above the tail lamps. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR PANEL in Exterior Trim.
  3. Remove the liftgate window garnish molding. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR WINDOW in Interior Trim.
  4. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  5. Disconnect the rear windshield washer fluid supply line.

  7. Disconnect the center high mount stop lamp (CHMSL) electrical connector located behind the header panel.
  8. Disconnect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).

  10. Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to LICENSE PLATE POCKET REPLACEMENT  .
  11. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to LOCK CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  12. Remove the window latch assembly. Refer to LATCH REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE WINDOW  .
  13. Remove the window wiper assembly. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT - REAR in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  14. Remove the liftgate control module. Refer to LIFT GATE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT  .
  15. Remove the liftgate wire harness. Refer to WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .
  16. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to STRUT REPLACEMENT - LIFT GATE  .

  18. Mark the location of the liftgate hinges using a grease pencil or other suitable marking device.
  19. Remove the liftgate hinge nuts with the aid of an assistant.
  20. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
