Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003 GMC Envoy XL, 2003 GMC Envoy, and 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the seat back to the seat adjuster.
    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  2. Install the seat back to the seat back recliner arm with the 2 bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts for the seat back recliner arm to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  4. Install the seat back pivot bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the seat back pivot bolt to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  6. Pull the seat back cover down over the seat back pad.

  8. Attach the hook and loop retaining strips by running your hand over the seat cover.
  9. Fasten the J-strips (1,4) across the bottom of the seat back cover.
  10. Install the seat cover flaps (2) to the seat frame with pushpins (3).

  12. Install the seat belt anchor.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the seat belt anchor nut to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  14. Install the seat cushion trim panel. Refer to SEAT CUSHION OUTER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT  .
  15. Install the front bucket seat assembly to the vehicle. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT - FRONT BUCKET  .
