Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003 GMC Envoy XL, 2003 GMC Envoy, and 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the seat back pad to the seat back frame.
  2. Install the 6 push pins that retain the seat back pad to the seat back frame.

  3. Partially install the seat cover.
  4. Install the 3 hog-rings to the reinforcement bar.

  5. Install the seat cover the remainder of the way.
  6. Engage the seat cover to the hook and loop retaining strips on the seat back pad.

    NOTE: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
  7. Install the screw that retains the rear seat back release latch bezel to the rear seat back.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rear seat back release latch bezel screw to 3 N.m (26 lb in).

  9. Install the 3 push-pins at the bottom of the rear seat back.

  11. Engage the hook and loop retaining strips at the bottom of the rear seat back.
  12. Starting at either corner, engage the J strips at the bottom of the rear seat back.
  13. Install the head restraints. Refer to HEAD RESTRAINT REPLACEMENT - REAR SEAT  .
  14. Install the seat belt bezel to the rear seat back with the plastic retainers (2).

  16. Install the rear seat belt anchor bolt into the seat belt buckle bracket.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rear seat belt anchor bolt to 55 N.m (41 lb ft).

  17. Install the seat belt buckle bracket, on the right side only.

  19. Install the seat back into the vehicle. Refer to SEAT BACK REPLACEMENT - REAR NO. 1 (TRAILBLAZER, ENVOY & BRAVADA)  or SEAT BACK REPLACEMENT - REAR NO. 1 (TRAILBLAZER, EXT & ENVOY XL)  .
