Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2003 GMC Envoy XL, 2003 GMC Envoy, and 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the front hood molding. Refer to MOLDING REPLACEMENT - HOOD FRONT  in Exterior Trim.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the underhood lamp.
  3. Remove the underhood lamp from the hood by releasing the retaining tabs.
  4. Remove the underhood lamp wiring harness from the hood and hinge.

  5. Remove the ground terminal retaining bolt (1) from the hood.

  6. Remove the push-pin retainers (2) from the hood and insulation.
  7. Remove the insulation from the tabs (1) and remove the insulation from the hood.

  8. Using a grease pencil or other suitable marking device, mark the position of the hood to the hinges (3).
  9. Remove the 4 bolts (2) that retain the hood hinges to the hood with an assistant.
  10. Remove the hood from the vehicle with an assistant.
