Installation Procedure

  1. Clean any remaining adhesive from glass surface using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha.
  2. Wipe surface with a clean cloth to remove all traces of cleaner.
  3. Using a clean dauber, apply adhesion promoter to glass surface where adhesive strip will contact glass (1).
  4. Remove protective film (2) from inner molding surface.
  5. Remove plastic film from one side of adhesive strip and install on lower edge of molding surface (3).
  6. Remove remaining plastic film from adhesive strip.
  7. Insert molding tabs (4) under lift gate hinge pins (5).
  8. Hand roll the lower edge of the molding to the liftgate to ensure proper adhesion.

  9. Install bolts retaining high mount stop lamp. Refer to HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT  in Lighting Systems.
    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice   in Cautions and Notices.
  10. Install molding retaining bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  11. Remove the tape from around the lift gate molding.
