Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Chevrolet Corvette. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the outer tie rod end (5) to the inner tie rod assembly (1). Do not tighten the jam nut.
- Install the outer tie rod end stud (5) to the steering knuckle (4).
- Install the outer tie rod end stud nut (3) to the outer tie rod end stud (5).
Tighten:
- Tighten the outer tie rod end stud nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft) to seat the stud.
- Turn the nut an additional 160 degrees.
- Check for the outer tie rod end stud nut for a minimum final torque of 45 N.m (33 lb ft).
- Install the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Adjust the wheel toe. Refer to Front Toe Adjustment in Wheel Alignment.
NOTE:

IMPORTANT:
Do not twist the rack and pinion boot during toe adjustment.
