Installation Procedure

  1. Install the compressor mounting stud to the compressor.
  2. Install the compressor into position on the compressor mounting bracket.
  3. Install the compressor mounting stud to the engine block.
  4. Install the upper compressor mounting bolt.
  5. Install the lower compressor mounting bolts.
  6. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  7. Tighten the compressor mounting stud.

    Tighten:  Tighten the stud to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  8. Install the compressor mounting nut.
  9. IMPORTANT: Tighten the compressor mounting bolts in the following sequence:
    1. Front upper
    2. Front lower
    3. Rear lower

  10. Tighten the compressor mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  11. Tighten the compressor mounting nut

    Tighten:  Tighten the nut to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

  12. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor hose assembly.
  13. Install new sealing washers onto the compressor hose assembly. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

  15. Install the compressor hose assembly to the compressor.
  16. Install the compressor hose assembly to compressor retaining bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 26 N.m (19 lb ft).

  18. Connect the compressor clutch electrical connector.
  19. Install the RH exhaust manifold heat shield.
  20. Install the compressor drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement - Air Conditioning in Engine Mechanical - 5.7L.
  21. Install the water pump. Refer to Water Pump Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  22. Install the battery heat shield. Refer to Battery Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  23. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  24. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  . See Special Tools and Equipment .
