Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering column bracket into position as marked prior to removal.
  2. Install the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P upper support beam. Do NOT tighten the bolts.

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Install the bolts which secure the steering column bracket to the I/P lower support beam.

    Tighten:  Tighten all of the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the clutch pedal bracket stud plate.
  7. Install the nuts to the clutch pedal bracket stud plate.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  9. Connect the master cylinder push rod to the clutch pedal.

  11. Position the cruise control release switch and bracket to the steering column bracket.
  12. Install the bracket bolts to the cruise control release switch.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bracket bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  14. Install the brake booster nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the nuts to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).

  15. Connect the master cylinder push rod to the brake pedal.
  16. Install the accelerator pedal assembly with accelerator pedal position sensor. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor Replacement in Engine Controls - 5.7L.

  18. Install the driver knee bolster outer bracket into position as marked prior to removal.
  19. Install the retaining screws to the driver knee bolster outer bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the retaining screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).

  21. If the vehicle is equipped with a Bose® module, position the Bose® module to the steering column bracket.
  22. Install the Bose® module retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the retaining bolts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

  24. Connect the Bose® module electrical/audio connector.
  25. Install the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement .
  26. Install the outlet duct to the left side window defogger.
  27. Install the I/P upper trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper .
  28. Install the left windshield side garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Side Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  29. Install the steering column to the steering column bracket. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  30. Install the left lower closeout panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Left .

  32. Install the driver knee bolster bracket into position as marked prior to removal.
  33. Install the screws which retain the driver knee bolster bracket to the steering column bracket.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 1.9 N.m (17 lb in).

  34. Secure the wiring harness retainers on the ignition switch and hazard warning switch to the driver knee bolster bracket.
  35. Install the ignition switch housing bracket. Refer to Ignition Switch Housing Bracket Replacement .
  36. Install the driver knee bolster trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Knee Bolster .
  37. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Accessory .
  38. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  39. Connect the negative battery cable and install the cable bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

  40. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming in Keyless Entry.
  41. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
