Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the headliner into the vehicle.

  3. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially raise the headliner and connect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.

  5. With the aid of an assistant, fully raise the headliner and install the left inboard sunshade retaining clip (5). Refer to Coupling Replacement - Antenna Inner and .
  6. Install the right rear push pin (2)
  7. Install the left rear push pin (3).
  8. Install the assist handles to the roof panel. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  9. Connect the electrical connector to the cellular phone antenna. Refer to Coaxial Cable Replacement - Cellular Telephone (Envoy, Bravada) in Cellular Communication.
  10. Connect the radio control module electrical connector to the right body side window. Refer to Radio Control Module Replacement in Entertainment.
  11. Install the coat hooks to the roof panel. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  12. Connect the radio antenna module electrical connector to the left body side window. Refer to Radio Antenna Module Replacement in Entertainment.
  13. Install the upper rear quarter trim panels. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Upper (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) .
  14. Connect the navigation antenna electrical connector, if equipped.
  15. Connect the rain sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
  16. Connect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (6).
  17. If the vehicle is NOT equipped with a sunroof, seat the 2 interlocking strips (1).

  19. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, seat the 6 interlocking strips.

  21. Reach underneath the carpet and remove the headliner harness electrical connector (1) from the IP wire harness.
  22. Install the center pillar headliner harness electrical connector to the bussed electrical center, and the block base to the floor panel. Refer to Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.
  23. Install the headliner harness retaining clips (2) to the rocker panel and the floor panel.

  25. Install the headliner harness to the left center pillar.
  26. Install the following headliner harness clips to the center pillar:
    • The center pillar harness clips (1)
    • The center pillar harness clips (3)
    • The center pillar harness clips (4)
  27. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  28. Install the ground terminals and the ground bolt (2) to the center pillar.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  29. If equipped with OnStar® perform the following procedure:
    1. Install the navigation antenna cable to the right center pillar.
    2. Install the navigation antenna cable to the right side door sill attachments.
    3. Install the navigation antenna cable to the communication interface module. Refer to NAVIGATION CONTROL PROCESSOR BRACKET REPLACEMENT in Cellular Communication.
  30. Install the sunshades to the headliner. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  31. If equipped, install the front and rear overhead console. Refer to OVERHEAD CONSOLE REPLACEMENT-Front  or OVERHEAD CONSOLE REPLACEMENT-Rear .
  32. Install the video display. Refer to Video Display Replacement .

  34. Attach the mechanic's wire to the end of the headliner harness positioned behind the IP.
  35. Pull the bottom of the mechanic's wire away from the cowl insulation access hole in order to position the headliner harness behind the IP.
  36. Attach the 3 clips (1) securing the wire harness to the windshield pillar.
  37. Attach the lower rosebud (2) retaining the headliner harness to the cowl.

  39. Connect the coax cable (2) and headliner harness connector (1).
  40. Close the IP compartment door.
  41. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Lower (GMC/Chevrolet in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  42. Install the IP trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  43. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar .
  44. Install the center pillar trim panels. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT-Center Pillar .
  45. Install the rear side door sill plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)  or Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) ..
  46. Install the front side door sill plates. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT-Front ..
  47. Install the rear seats. Refer toSeat Back Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) or Seat Back Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, EXT, Envoy XL) andSeat Cushion Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) in Seats.
  48. Install the luggage/cargo shelf assembly, if equipped.
  49. Install the cargo net, if equipped.
