Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 GMC Envoy XL, 2002 GMC Envoy, and 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With the aid of an assistant, install the headliner into the vehicle.

  3. If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, partially raise the headliner and connect the sunroof assembly electrical connector.

  5. With the aid of an assistant, fully raise the headliner and ensure that the retaining strips (1) are engaged, and the headliner harnesses (4) hang free of the headliner.
  6. Install the assist handles to the roof panel. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  7. Install the right rear push pin (2)
  8. Install the left rear push pin (3).
  9. Install the sunshades to the headliner. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  10. Install the left and right sunshade retaining clips (5).

    Tighten:  Tighten the sunshade retaining clip screws to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  12. Install the auxiliary air conditioning duct to the vehicle with the bolt.

    Tighten:  Tighten the auxiliary air conditioning duct bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  14. Connect the coax cable (1) to the navigation antenna, if equipped.
  15. Connect the rain sensor electrical connector (2), if equipped.
  16. Connect the inside rear view mirror electrical connector (3).
  17. Install the windshield rearview mirror wire harness cover.
  18. Install the video display. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  19. If equipped, install the front and rear overhead console. Refer to OVERHEAD CONSOLE REPLACEMENT-Front  or OVERHEAD CONSOLE REPLACEMENT-Rear .

  21. Attach the mechanic's wire to the end of the headliner harness.
  22. Pull the bottom of the mechanic's wire away from the cowl insulation access hole in order to position the headliner harness behind the IP.
  23. Attach the 3 clips (1) securing the wire harness to the windshield pillar.
  24. Attach the lower rosebud (2) retaining the headliner harness to the cowl.

  26. Connect the coax cable (2) and headliner harness connector (1).
  27. Close the IP compartment door.
  28. Install the IP trim pad. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  29. Install the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Windshield Pillar 
  30. Install the center pillar trim panels. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT-Center Pillar .
  31. Install the front side door sill plates. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT-Front ..
  32. Install the right sound insulator. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Lower (GMC/Chevrolet in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  33. Install the coat hooks to the roof panel. Refer to Coat Hook Replacement .
  34. Connect the cellular antenna coax cable to the inner coupling on the left body side window. Refer to Coupling Replacement - Antenna Inner in Cellular Communication.
  35. Connect the antenna module electrical connector to the right and left body side window. Refer to Radio Control Module Replacement in Entertainment.

  37. Install the headliner harness to the left third pillar.
  38. Install the headliner harness to the floor studs.
  39. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  40. Install the ground terminals and the ground bolt to the left center pillar.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ground bolt to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

  42. Reach underneath the carpet and install the 6 - way headliner harness electrical connector (1) to the cross-body wire harness.
  43. Pass the communication interface module electrical connectors through the small hole in the carpet.
  44. Install the headliner harness retaining clips to the rocker panel and the floor panel.

  46. If equipped with OnStar® perform the following procedure:
    1. Install the navigation antenna cable to the right 'C' pillar.
    2. Install the navigation antenna cable to the floor studs.
  47. Install the body electrical block. Refer to Rear Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

  49. Install the rear carpet. Ensure that the carpet hooks over the left wheelhouse panel stud.

  51. Connect the electrical connector to the left-hand body side window actuator.
  52. Connect the electrical connector to the right-hand body side window actuator.

  54. Install the nut (1) securing the stowage jack carrier to the wheelhouse panel.
  55. Install the right rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT-REAR QUARTER-Right (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)  or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Right (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) .
  56. Install the left rear quarter lower trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada) Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) .
  57. Install the left/right rear body side trim rear window garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) .
  58. Install the left/right front body side window garnish molding. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Body Side Window - Front (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) .
  59. Install the lift gate door sill plate. Refer to DOOR SILL PLATE REPLACEMENT-Lift Gate .
  60. Install the cargo tie-down loops.

    Tighten:  Tighten the cargo tie-down loop bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).

  61. Install the rear side door sill plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer, Envoy, Bravada)  or Door Sill Plate Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) ..
  62. Install the second row seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Rear No. 1 (TrailBlazer EXT, Envoy XL) in Seats.
  63. Install the third row seats.
  64. Install the luggage/cargo shade assembly, if equipped.
  65. Install the cargo net, if equipped.
