Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the necessary coolant from the radiator. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM (BODY VIN CODE 6)   or DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM (BODY VIN CODE 3)   .
  2. Remove the generator. Refer to CHARGING SYSTEM  or CHARGING SYSTEM  in Engine Electrical
  3. Loosen the outlet hose clamp at the water inlet (1) of the thermostat. Remove the outlet hose from the water inlet.

  4. Remove the thermostat housing at the water inlet bolts.
  5. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine block.
  6. Clean all of the surfaces of the thermostat housing.
  7. Clean the sealing surface of the engine block.
