Removal Procedure

- Remove the outer tie rod. Refer to TIE ROD END REPLACEMENT - OUTER .
- Remove the rack and pinion gear. Refer to POWER STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT
. IMPORTANT: All boot parts must be replaced when replacing the inner tie rod.
- Remove and discard the small seal retaining clamp (1).
- Remove and discard the large seal retaining clamp (1) from the rack and pinion boot (2) with side cutters.
IMPORTANT: Do not cut the end of the boot or place a screwdriver between boot and tie rod. Damage to the gear assembly may result.
- Firmly pull rack and pinion boot (1) from the gear. Discard the rack and pinion boot (1).
