Removal Procedure

NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

Install drain pan under vehicle.
Disconnect the power steering pressure (1) and return hose (3) from the power steering pump (2).
Raise and support vehicle with suitable safety stands. Refer to JACKING AND LIFTING in General Information.

Disconnect the power steering hose assembly from the power steering cooler.
Lower the vehicle.
Remove the PCM from PCM mounting bracket and position out of the way. Refer to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE in Engine Controls - 5.3L.

Raise the vehicle.
Remove power steering hose assembly (1) to power steering gear mounting bolt (2).
Disconnect the power steering hose assembly from the power steering gear (3).

Remove the power steering hose assembly (1) front bracket mounting bolt (3).
Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from retaining clip.
Remove the power steering hose assembly rear bracket mounting bolt (2).
Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle.
