Installation Procedure

Install the rear axle cover. Refer to Rear Axle Housing Cover and Gasket Replacement .
Inspect the fluid level. Refer to Lubricant Level Inspection - Rear Drive Axle .
Fill the rear axle with axle lubricant. Use the proper fluid. Refer to Capacities - Approximate Fluid and Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations in Maintenance and Lubrication.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the rear axle fill plug.
Tighten: Tighten the rear axle fill plug to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).
Lower the vehicle.
