Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the front wheel drive axle front differential assembly.
- Remove the mechanics wire or hook from the front shock module/steering
- Install the front wheel drive axle in the steering knuckle.
- Position the shock module in the shock tower.
- Install the shock module into the shock tower
- Install the upper ball joint in the upper control arm.
- Install the pinch bolt and nut. For the proper torque specification, refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement (RWD) or Steering Knuckle Replacement (4WD) in Front Suspension.
- Install the shock module retaining nuts. For the proper torque specification, refer to Shock Module Replacement in Front Suspension.
- Install the front wheel drive shaft retaining.
- Install the new front wheel drive shaft retaining nut.
Tighten: Tighten the wheel drive shaft retaining nut to 140 N.m (103 lb ft).
- Install the tie rod end in the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
- Install the stabilizer bar link. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement in Front Suspension.
- Install the front brake hose retaining bolt. Refer to Brake Hose Replacement - Front in Hydraulic Brakes.
- Install the front wheel speed sensor wiring harness in the retainers.
- Reconnect the front wheel speed sensors electrical connector.
- Install the engine protection shield. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement in Frame and Underbody .
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
