Power Steering Cooler Replacement (5.3L): Installation

  1. Install the power steering cooler to the radiator support.
  2. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  3. Install the power steering cooler mounting bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the power steering cooler mounting to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  5. Connect the power steering cooler hoses to the power steering cooler.
  6. Install the front facia. Refer to Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Rainier) or Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Bravada) or Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Envoy, Envoy XUV) or Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (TrailBlazer) in Bumpers.
  7. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Start vehicle and inspect power steering fluid level.
  10. Add power steering fluid in needed.
