Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Support the transmission using a suitable jack.
  4. Remove the transmission crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement in Frame and Underbody.

  6. Loosen the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement (4.2L Engine) or Catalytic Converter Replacement (5.3L Engine)

  8. Lower the transmission slightly.

  10. Remove the indicator tube nut.

  12. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
  13. Remove the seal from the transmission, if necessary.
