Removal Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Apply tape to the liftgate around the area of the molding.
- Open the liftgate.
- Remove the bolts retaining the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement (Envoy, TrailBlazer, Rainier, Bravada) or High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement (Envoy XUV) in Lighting Systems.
- Remove the retaining bolts (1) that secure the molding to the top edge of the liftgate.
- Separate the bottom edge of the molding from the window using a plastic, flat-bladed tool to release the adhesive strip (2) from the window.
- Remove the molding from the vehicle.
NOTE:
Use a plastic, flat-bladed tool to prevent paint damage when removing an emblem/name plate.
