Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Clean any remaining adhesive from the window surface using Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naptha.
  2. Wipe the surface with a clean cloth to remove all traces of the cleaner.

  4. Using a clean dauber, apply adhesion promoter to the window surface where the adhesive strip will contact the window (1).
  5. Remove the protective film (2) from the inner molding surface.
  6. Remove the plastic film from one side of the adhesive strip and install on the lower edge of the molding surface (3).
  7. Remove the remaining plastic film from the adhesive strip.
  8. Insert the molding tabs (4) under the liftgate hinge pins (5).
  9. Hand roll the lower edge of the molding to the liftgate to ensure proper adhesion.
  10. Install the bolts retaining the high mount stop lamp. Refer to High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement (Envoy, TrailBlazer, Rainier, Bravada) or High Mounted Stop Lamp Replacement (Envoy XUV) in Lighting Systems.
  11. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  12. Install the molding retaining bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  13. Remove the tape from around the liftgate molding.
