Fasten Safety Belt Indicator/Chime Inoperative

1 Did you review the Diagnostic Starting Point - Seat Belts? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic Starting Point - Seat Belts 
2 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster ? Go to Step 3  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Observe the seat belt indicator illumination during bulb check.
Does the seat belt indicator illuminate during bulb check?
Go to Symptoms - Seat Belts  Go to Step 4 
4 With a scan tool, observe the Driver Side Belt Status parameter in the SIR scan tool data list while buckling and unbuckling the driver seat belt.
Does the seat belt parameter change state?
Go to Step 8  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the signal circuit of the seat belt switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 6 
6 Test the ground circuit of the seat belt switch for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 7 
7 Test the seat belt switch for an open or high resistance.
Does the seat belt switch have an open or high resistance?
Go to Step 9  Go to Step 10 
8 Replace the IPC. Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 11  -
9 Replace the LF seat belt switch. Refer to Seat Belt Buckle Replacement - Front .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 11  -
10 Replace the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). Refer to Inflatable Restraint Sensing and Diagnostic Module Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 11  -
11 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?
System OK Go to Step 2
