Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Open the endgate.
  2. Remove the endgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Endgate (Envoy XUV) .
  3. Remove the endgate control module. Refer to Module Rear Body Control Replacement - Endgate .
  4. Remove the endgate inner reinforcement panel. Refer to Reinforcement Inner Panel Replacement - Endgate .
  5. Remove the endgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Endgate .

  7. Remove the bolt (2) retaining the wiring harness to the body.
  8. Release the retainers (3) retaining the wiring harness grommet to the body.
  9. Disconnect the endgate wiring harness to body harness connector (1).
  10. Disconnect the rear washer hose connection (4).

  12. Disconnect the window regulator connector (3).
  13. Disconnect the rear wiper motor connector (2).
  14. Disconnect the rear high mounted brake lamp connector (5).
  15. Disconnect the relay connector (4).

  17. Disconnect the left side upper and lower latch connectors (1).
  18. Disconnect the right side upper latch connector (4).
  19. Release the retainers attaching the endgate wiring harness to the endgate.
  20. Push the endgate harness grommet (2) into the endgate.
  21. Pull the endgate harness to body harness connector (3) through the opening in the endgate.
  22. Remove the endgate wiring harness from the endgate.
