Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Window Replacement - Liftgate .
  2. Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Liftgate .
  3. Disconnect the liftgate to body wiring harness connector. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Liftgate .

  5. Remove the liftgate hinge pivot retainers (1) from the liftgate hinge pivots.
  6. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate from the body side hinge by sliding the liftgate to the left disengaging the hinge pivots from the bushings.
  7. Place the liftgate on a clean, protected surface.

  9. Remove the liftgate hinge bushings (1) from the liftgate hinges.
  10. Remove the lift hinge pivots (2) from the liftgate hinges.
  11. Remove the hinge pivots (1) from the body side hinges.
  12. Remove the hinge bushings (2) from the body side hinges.

  13. Remove the nuts retaining the body side hinges (1) to the body.

  14. Remove the body side hinges from the body.
