Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  2. Remove the center lower closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator Panel Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Lower (GMC/Chevrolet) .

  4. Remove the lower trim plate retaining screws.
  5. Starting at the bottom of the trim plate, release the 2 lower retaining clips and the 2 intermediate retaining clips.
  6. Release the 3 upper retaining clips.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors as necessary.
  8. If replacing the trim plate, perform the following steps:
    1. If equipped, remove the transfer case shift control switch. Refer to Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Replacement (GMC, Buick) or Transfer Case Shift Control Switch Replacement (Chevrolet) .
    2. Remove the rear windshield wiper switch. Refer to Wiper/Washer Switch Replacement - Rear in Wiper/Washer Systems.
    3. If equipped, remove the cigar lighter and 12-volt power supply. Refer to Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement - 12 Volt in Power Outlets.
