Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2004 GMC Envoy XUV, 2004 GMC Envoy XL, 2004 GMC Envoy, and 2004 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the key into the lock cylinder.
  2. IMPORTANT: The gears between the ignition switch and the lock cylinder housing must be in the correct position. Failure to do so will cause a misalignment of the gears in the ignition switch and the lock cylinder housing, which may result in a NO START or BATTERY DRAIN.

  3. Use a screwdriver to rotate the lock cylinder housing gear clockwise to the start position - allowing it to spring return into the RUN position.

  5. Align the lock cylinder and install into the lock cylinder housing.
  6. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement .
  7. Install the hush and knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console.
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling Zone 3 in SIR.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
