Diagnostic Aids

If the DTC is only found in history, the fault may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

1 Did you perform the Adjustable Pedal Diagnostic System Check? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Adjustable Pedals

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Display the driver seat module current DTCs.
Is the DTC current?
Go to Step 4  Go to Step 3

  1. Clear the driver seat module history DTCs.
  2. Set a memory pedal position near the center of the pedal travel.
  3. Recall the memory pedal position from the forward stop and from the rearward stop.
Does the DTC reset?
Go to Step 5  Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems
4 Operate the adjustable pedal switch in both directions.
Does the pedal assembly function in both directions?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the driver seat to body harness in line connector.
  2. Operate the adjustable pedal switch in both directions.
Does the pedal assembly function in both directions?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect the adjustable pedal assembly connector.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to battery voltage, probe each of the relay control circuit terminals from the adjustable pedal switch in the harness connector.
Does the test lamp illuminate on either circuit?
Go to Step 14  Go to Step 7 
7 Using a test lamp connected to battery voltage, probe each of the relay control circuit terminals from the driver seat module in the adjustable pedal assembly harness connector.
Does the test lamp illuminate on either circuit?
Go to Step 13  Go to Step 18

  1. Disconnect the adjustable pedal assembly connector.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to ground, probe each of the relay control circuit terminals from the adjustable pedal switch in the harness connector.
Does the test lamp illuminate on either circuit?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 9 
9 Using a test lamp connected to ground, probe each of the relay control circuit terminals from the driver seat module in the adjustable pedal assembly harness connector.
Does the test lamp illuminate on either circuit?
Go to Step 12  Go to Step 15 
10 Test the relay control circuits in the driver seat harness for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 22  Go to Step 18 
11 Test the relay control circuits from the driver seat module for an open or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

12 Test the relay control circuits from the adjustable pedal switch for an open or short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

13 Test the relay control circuits from the driver seat module for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

14 Test the relay control circuits from the adjustable pedal switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

15 Test the adjustable pedal relay ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

16 Inspect for poor connections at the adjustable pedal switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and toConnector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

17 Inspect for poor connections at the adjustable pedal relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and toConnector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

18 Inspect for poor connections at the driver seat module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and toConnector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

19 Replace the adjustable pedal switch.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 22  -
20 Replace the adjustable pedal relay.
Did you complete the replacement?

21 Replace the driver seat module.

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.
Does the DTC reset?
Go to Step 2  System OK
