Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE (SINGLE BATTERY) or BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE (AUXILIARY BATTERY) .
- Remove the upper radiator baffle. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE ASSEMBLIES AND DEFLECTORS (SIDE) or RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE ASSEMBLIES AND DEFLECTORS (UPPER) .
- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (EXCEPT AVALANCHE) or HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (AVALANCHE) or HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY OR HEADLAMP BULB REPLACEMENT (ESCALADE) .
- Remove the upper condenser mounting bolts.
- Remove the bolts from the front end diagonal brace.
- Remove the front end diagonal brace.
- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT -- LOWER and FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT -- UPPER (W/O M74) or FAN SHROUD REPLACEMENT -- UPPER (W/M74) .
- Remove the tie bar to radiator brace bolts (1). Access the bolts from the rear of the upper radiator support using an extension.
- Remove the radiator mounting bolts from the rear side of the tie bar.
- Remove the tie bar bolts.
- Remove the upper headlamp housing support screws.
- Remove the tie bar.
