Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The DTC P0341 Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Performance diagnostic monitors the signal from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. The CMP sensor is a magnetic generator type sensor that produces an AC signal. The CMP sensor signal increases in frequency as the engine RPM increases. The camshaft position signal is used by the powertrain control module (PCM) to determine the optimum ignition timing and the optimum fuel delivery. The CMP sensor is also used to monitor engine misfire and monitor the operation of the CMP actuator system.
