Test Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Pontiac Vibe. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
- 1: The Diagnostic System Check-Engine Controls prompts the technician to complete some basic checks and store the Freeze Frame data on the scan tool if applicable. This creates an electronic copy of the data taken when the fault occurred. The information is then stored in the scan tool for later reference.
- 3: This step tests for an always ON secondary AIR solenoid valve.
- 4: This step verifies the operation of the secondary AIR solenoid valve. If there is still vacuum pressure after the AIR pump is OFF, the solenoid vent passage is blocked.
- 5: This step tests for a shorted solenoid control circuit.
- 7: This step tests for a stuck OPEN secondary AIR shut off valve.
