Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Discharge and recover the Refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
- Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the heater hoses (2,3) at the heater core.
- Remove the evaporator inlet (4) and outlet (3) tubes from the evaporator.
- Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Trim Pad Replacement - Instrument Panel (I/P) Upper and Instrument Panel (I/P) Trim Panel Replacement - Lower in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Remove the instrument panel reinforcement. Refer to Instrument Panel (I/P) Carrier Support Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
- Disconnect the blower motor electrical connector.
- Separate the rear heater ducts (3) from the HVAC module assembly (1).
- Remove the four nuts (2).
- Pull the HVAC module assembly forward and remove from the vehicle.
CAUTION:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
IMPORTANT:
Cap the open fittings in order to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the refrigeration system.
