Removal & Installation (Driver-side)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Rotate steering wheel to access driver-side air bag module Torx bolts at rear of steering wheel. Remove driver-side air bag module Torx bolts. Remove Connector Position Assurance (CPA) clip from driver-side air bag module connector and disconnect connector. See Fig 1. Disconnect horn ground lead. Rotate horn contact lead counterclockwise 1/4 turn to release from steering column shaft tower. Remove driver-side air bag module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten driver-side air bag module Torx bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
