Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Ignition switch supplies ignition voltage to Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) at terminal A1 via AIR BAG fuse, located in junction block on left end of instrument panel. See Figure. When ignition is turned on, SDM responds by performing tests on SIR system while commanding Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to flash AIR BAG warning light 7 times. If no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) exist, AIR BAG warning light will turn off.
