Removal Procedure

    CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  3. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  4. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Remove the right side lower engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine - Right in Body Front End.
  6. Remove the left side lower engine splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Engine - Left in Body Front End.
  7. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  8. On LV6 engine, remove the water pump pulley.

  10. On all engines, remove the following components from the vehicle:
    • The 6 water pump bolts (1, 2)
    • The water pump
  11. Remove the O-ring from the vehicle.
