Installation Procedure

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Install the lower heat insulator to the exhaust manifold.
Tighten: Tighten the lower heat insulator bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
Install the following components:
- The exhaust manifold gasket
- The exhaust manifold

On 1.8L LV6 engines, install the exhaust manifold bolts (1-5).
Tighten: Tighten the exhaust manifold to nuts and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

On 1.8L LNK engines, install the 3 exhaust manifold bolts (2) and 2 exhaust manifold nuts (3).
Tighten: Tighten the exhaust manifold to nuts and bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Install the upper heat insulator.
Install the upper heat insulator bolts.
Tighten: Tighten the upper heat insulator bolts to 37 N.m (27 lb ft).

Install 1 bolt to the manifold support bracket to exhaust manifold.
Tighten: Tighten the manifold support bracket bolt 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
Install the exhaust manifold flange gasket.

Install the following components to the exhaust manifold flange:
- The springs (5)
- 2 bolts (4)
  Tighten: Tighten the exhaust pipe bolts to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).
Install the exhaust pipe hangers (3).
Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor electrical connectors.
- Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S2) electrical connector (2). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (FWD) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (AWD) in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
- Connect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S1) electrical connector (1). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 1 (FWD) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 1 (AWD) in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 1 Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
Lower the vehicle.

Connect the AIR pump hose clamp.
Install the AIR pipe retaining bolt (1).
Tighten: Tighten the AIR pipe bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

Connect the negative battery cable.
