Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 (HO2S2). Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (FWD) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 (AWD) in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LV6) or Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Position 2 in Engine Controls - 1.8L (LNK).
  2. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
    3. Fig 1: (HO2S1) And (HO2S2) Electrical Connector, Exhaust Pipe Hangers, Springs And Bolts

  3. Remove the bolts securing the front pipe to the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).
  4. Remove the bolts securing the Three-Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) to the muffler/tail pipe assembly.
  5. Remove the hangers from the TWC (2).
  6. Remove the TWC from the vehicle.
  7. Clean the gasket and seal mating surfaces.
