Installation Procedure

  1. Place a bearing driver collar on the inside outer race of a NEW wheel bearing (11).
  2. Use a press in order to install the bearing into the knuckle (2).

    Press from the inside of the knuckle toward the outside of the knuckle.

  3. Install the brake shield (3) to the knuckle.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the 3 bolts (4,5,7) that retain the brake shield to the knuckle.

    Tighten:  Tighten the bolts to 8.3 N.m (73.46 lb in).

  6. Place the outside end of the hub (6) on a press support plate.

    Verify the weight of the hub is on the outside end of the hub and not on the wheel studs.

  7. Place the knuckle and the bearing on the hub.
  8. Place a bearing driver collar on the bearing inside inner race.
  9. Use a press in order to install the hub to the knuckle.

    Press from the inside of the bearing toward the outside of the hub.

  10. Use snap ring pliers in order to install the wheel bearing retainer (1).
  11. Install the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Knuckle Replacement .
