Installation Procedure

  1. Verify the steering rack does not have grease or foreign material in the ventilation hole.
  2. Fig 1: Boot Clamp Inner Tie Rod And Steering Gear

  3. Install the boot to the groove in the steering gear (3).
  4. Install the boot clamp (2) in order to retain the boot to the gear.
  5. Verify the boot is not twisted, dented, or improperly folded.

  7. Install the boot clamp (2) in order to retain the boot to the inner tie rod.
  8. Install the outer tie rod. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
