Removal Procedure

  1. Place a drain pan under the vehicle in order to catch any power steering fluid.
    2. Fig 1: Power Steering Gear Inlet Pipe/Hose Components (FWD)

  2. Remove the bolt (4) from the power steering gear inlet hose (5).
    3. IMPORTANT: A bracket retains the power steering gear inlet hose to the power steering outlet hose.
  3. Loosen the clamp that retains the power steering cooling pipe to the end of the power steering gear outlet hose (9).
    4. NOTE: Refer to Power Steering Hose Disconnected Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  4. Remove the gear outlet hose from the cooling pipe.
  5. Remove the pipe fitting (7) and the gear outlet hose from the steering gear (8).
  6. Remove the pipe fitting (6) and the gear inlet hose from the steering gear.
  7. Remove the bolt (3).
  8. Remove the pipe fitting (2) and the gear inlet hose from the pump.
