Installation Procedure

  1. Apply Lubriplate® Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109, Canadian P/N 5264008, or the equivalent, to the metal contact points on the backing plate (1) and the adjuster strut (3).
  2. Assemble the adjuster strut (2,3,5) and the return spring (4).

  3. Install the following components:
    • The adjuster strut (7,8,10)
    • The return spring (9)
    • The park brake lever (11)
    • The 2 C-shaped park brake lever washers (12)
    • The rear shoe (13)
  4. Connect the park brake cable to the park brake lever.
  5. Install the following components to the rear shoe:
    • The pin (4)
    • The hold-down spring (14)
    • The hold-down spring cup (15)
  6. Install the adjuster lever (22) and the adjuster spring (21) to the front shoe (20).
  7. Install the front shoe.
  8. Install the anchor spring (17).
  9. Install the following components to the front shoe:
    • The pin (1)
    • The hold-down spring (19)
    • The hold-down spring cup (18)
  10. Connect the return spring (9) to the shoes.
  11. Adjust the drum brake if necessary. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
  12. Install the drum (16). Refer to Brake Drum Replacement .
