Removal Procedure

- Release the park brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the drum.
- If the drum does not remove easily, then complete the following steps:
- Remove the rear brake adjuster access hole plug.
- Insert a screwdriver through the hole in the backing plate. Hold the brake shoe adjuster actuator away from the park brake lever strut.
- Reduce the brake shoe adjustment by turning the park brake lever strut with another screwdriver.
- Remove the drum.
