Inspection Procedure

- Clean the following components in denatured alcohol or an equivalent brake parts cleaner:
- The clip (8)
- The springs (7,9)
- The pad guide pins (5,6)
- The insulators (1,4)
- Inspect the components for the following conditions:
- Sufficient rebound
- No deformation
- No cracks
- No wear
- No rust
- No dirt
If the components meet the above conditions, re-use the components.
- Clean the following components in denatured alcohol or an equivalent brake parts cleaner.
- The bolts (1,8)
- The slide pins (2,9)
- The slide pin boots (3,6,9)
- The caliper housing (10)
- Use unlubricated, compressed air in order to dry the components
- Inspect the slide pin bores of the caliper for corrosion and wear. Replace the caliper if the slide pin bores are damaged. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Rear .
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT use abrasives in order to clean brake components.
